Storage West Drayton Modern Slavery Statement
This Modern Slavery Statement is made by Storage West Drayton in respect of the financial year ending 31 December and sets out the steps we are taking to prevent modern slavery and human trafficking in our business operations and supply chains. We recognise our responsibility to uphold human rights and to conduct business in a transparent, ethical and responsible manner.
Our Commitment and Zero-Tolerance Policy
Storage West Drayton has a zero-tolerance stance towards all forms of modern slavery, human trafficking, forced labour, child labour, servitude and exploitation. We are committed to acting professionally, fairly and with integrity in all our business dealings, and to implementing and enforcing effective systems and controls to ensure modern slavery is not taking place within our own operations or our wider supply chains.
All employees, officers, contractors and suppliers are expected to share this commitment. We do not knowingly support or deal with any business involved in modern slavery, and we reserve the right to suspend or terminate relationships with any party that is found to be in breach of this principle.
Our Business and Supply Chains
Storage West Drayton operates storage facilities and related services. Our supply chains include providers of building maintenance, security, cleaning, utilities, equipment, technology and professional services. We recognise that some of these sectors and geographic regions may carry higher risks of labour exploitation, and we are committed to assessing and reducing those risks on an ongoing basis.
Supplier Standards and Due Diligence
We are enhancing our supplier onboarding and review processes to include explicit consideration of modern slavery risks. Suppliers are required to comply with all applicable labour and human rights legislation and to maintain working practices that respect the dignity and safety of all workers involved in providing goods or services to Storage West Drayton.
Our approach includes carrying out appropriate background checks, requesting relevant policies or statements from key suppliers and ensuring that contractual terms allow us to address any identified issues relating to modern slavery or human trafficking.
Supplier Audits and Monitoring
To strengthen our oversight, Storage West Drayton is implementing a programme of proportionate supplier audits and monitoring activities. These may include remote assessments, review of documentation and, where appropriate, onsite visits to higher risk suppliers to understand their labour practices and the measures they have in place to prevent exploitation.
Where areas for improvement are identified, we will seek to work collaboratively with suppliers to put in place corrective actions and realistic improvement plans within agreed timescales. If a supplier fails to make adequate progress or demonstrates unwillingness to remediate issues, we may review, restrict or terminate the business relationship.
Reporting Channels and Escalation
We encourage employees, contractors, suppliers and any other stakeholders to report any concerns they may have about actual or suspected modern slavery or human trafficking connected with Storage West Drayton. Concerns can be raised through internal management channels or in writing to senior management. All reports will be treated seriously and, where possible, handled confidentially.
No individual who raises a concern in good faith will suffer any form of detrimental treatment as a result of speaking up. Reports will be investigated promptly, and appropriate remedial and disciplinary action will be taken where necessary, including referral to relevant authorities if required.
Training and Awareness
We are working to increase awareness of modern slavery risks among relevant employees, particularly those involved in procurement, facilities management and supplier engagement. Training and guidance will focus on recognising indicators of exploitation, understanding our policies and processes, and knowing how to escalate concerns.
Annual Review and Continuous Improvement
This Modern Slavery Statement will be reviewed annually by senior management to assess its effectiveness and to ensure it reflects current best practice, changes in legislation and developments in our business and supply chains. As part of that review, we will consider feedback from stakeholders, the outcomes of supplier audits, reported concerns and any incidents identified.
We are committed to continual improvement in our approach to preventing modern slavery and human trafficking. Over time, we aim to deepen our risk assessments, enhance supplier engagement and expand training and monitoring so that Storage West Drayton consistently upholds the highest standards of ethical conduct.
